Hot Topic Theme: Work Integrated Learning and External Partnerships

Are you looking for a resource to help your students reflect, plan and improve upon their work experience during their WIL experience?

Are you interested in measuring the success of your WIL programme?

This webinar presents a purpose-driven, self-reflective tool to self-assess professional practice capabilities while measuring individual and group changes over the course of a WIL programme.

WILD Learning from the UK has partnered with UTS to develop WILD Learning Journeys, expanding on the existing Learning Power (previously ‘CLARA’) online survey tool to provide a scaffold for WIL projects.

The solution is based on a flexible, non-prescriptive methodology and is available to all UTS staff and students. This interactive session will introduce Learning Power and WILD Learning Journeys, and identify ways that it can be used to support WIL and the growth of the self-directed learner.

Guest Speakers

Simon Buckingham Shum is Professor of Learning Informatics and Director of the Connected Intelligence Centre. He has worked with Ruth Crick around dispositional learning analytics since 2009, with CIC supporting its piloting in UTS since 2015.

With a background in IT and small business, Phil Carlisle is a WILD Learning Associate based in Sydney. He has worked with Ruth (and UTS) for two years supporting and building the WILD concept and the Learning Journeys platform and is leading WILD Learning’s work in Australia.

What are Hot Topics?

The Teaching and Curriculum Team from IML invites you to participate in the explorations of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and external partnerships, the final topic in the Hot Topics series.

Be part of the conversation and share with us how you use WIL as a vehicle to engage in public and private sector and community partnerships, design real-world relevant courses, develop public-good professionalism and strengthen graduate employability.

This event is facilitated by the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML) Teaching and Curriculum (TAC) Team.

Franziska Trede, Associate Professor, TACT, IML
Dimity Wehr, Curriculum Development Officer, TACT, IML

You’ll be added into the ‘Hot Topics’ MS Teams space upon registration. You’ll be able to stay connected, view shared resources, favourite papers, blogs and website links.
